Update On Expected Favorites For WWE King of the Ring
The WWE King of the Ring tournament is currently ongoing, and a new report has a note about the expected favorites for the tournament. As reported earlier this week, the winner of the tournament had not been decided at the point that the brackets were announced during the WWE Clash in Italy post-show, and there were “at least” three names in consideration at that point.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the current favorites are expected to be Seth Rollins and Oba Femi. Rollins and Femi are at the top of the betting odds for the tournament, with both of them at a -200 favorite position.
Femi won his King of the Ring Fatal Four-Way first round match on WWE Raw, while Rollins will be facing Je’Von Evans, Tama Tonga, and Ricky Saints on next week’s episode of Raw.
Dave Meltzer did some speculation, noting that he felt it was too early to give Femi a World Title shot. He also noted that Rollins vs. Reigns was the original plan for WrestleMania 42 before Rollins’ shoulder injury derailed those plans.
The winner of the King of the Ring tournament will be determined at WWE Night of Champions on June 28th. The winner will get a World Heavyweight or Undisputed WWE Championship match at WWE SummerSlam in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The two-night PLE takes place on August 1st and 2nd. Night of Champions will also feature the finals of the Queen of the Ring tournament.
