5 Superstars That Won’t Benefit From the Superstar Shakeup

Bray Wyatt WrestleMania 32

We are in our third week of the post-Superstar Shakeup and the battle lines are becoming clear for each show. With the weeks passing it is becoming clear that certain superstars will continue to tread water as their peers pass them on the food chain. Last week I took a look at 5 Superstars who would benefit from the roster shuffle, so this week I will take the low road and see which stars will not benefit from the Superstar Shakeup.

5. Becky Lynch: I was a proponent of the “Lass-kicker” being moved over to Raw in the shakeup. Lynch stayed on the blue brand and if the past two weeks are any indication, she seems poised to occupy be a lower priority in the Smackdown Live Women’s division. With Naomi being the champion and Charlotte now in tow, Lynch will likely be relegated to third wheel in terms of the top contenders. With Natalya, Carmella and Tamina (and James Ellsworth!) now forming an alliance it seems as though Becky will just be another member of the cavalry instead of the star player she was when she was first drafted to Smackdown.

4. Erick Rowan: Erik Rowan is the most loyal disciple of Bray Wyatt and now that the Eater of Worlds is on Raw, Rowan is a sheep without a shepherd. While the WWE has tried giving Rowan a singles push before it did not work out, with the infamous “stairs” match with Big Show being an all-time debacle. Rowan is a talented worker and a convincing powerhouse but for whatever reason he does not resonate with fans. With he and Luke Harper being pitted against each other as rivals it seems as though Rowan will be a midcard monster instead of the role he is best suited for: a tag team specialist.

3. The Club: The Club has already been vanquished by the Hardy Boyz and is currently embroiled in a seemingly never ending program with Enzo and Cass. Though the Revival’s push is on hold due to Dash Wilder’s jaw injury, their return will likely mean a push down the card for the good brothers. With Sheamus and Cesaro potentially turning heel, the Club may well end up as the third most important heel tag team on Raw. The best thing that can happen for Gallows and Anderson may just be a reunion with Finn Balor to form the “Balor club.”

2. The Miz: The Miz had the best year of his career last year after being drafted to Smackdown. Miz TV was a constant highlight on Tuesday nights and the A-Lister practically put Talking Smack on the map. His chemistry with Smackdown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan created some of the most electrifying segments of the year and his feud with John Cena still had plenty of legs if the writing team wanted to revisit it. So with all of that in mind the WWE thought it would be a good idea to send the Miz to Raw, with his first act being on the receiving end of a Dirty Deeds from Dean Ambrose. The Miz is a great character but he just won’t be able to break through the upper echelon of heels on Raw with Brock Lesnar being the Universal Champion, Braun Strowman being an unstoppable monster and even Samoa Joe being the muscle behind the Authority (who, lets face it, will never go away). Smackdown Live and the Miz had a great thing but now he is just another face in the crowd and will likely be dropping losses to the Shield guys for the next year.

1. Bray Wyatt: Though it was exciting for the lights to go out on Finn Balor during the first night of the shakeup, the crashing realization that Bray Wyatt had likely already peaked slowly crept into my mind. Bray Wyatt had become one of the premiere faces on Smackdown Live after pinning both John Cena and AJ Styles in the Elimination Chamber but since then he has been booked to be clearly inferior to Randy Orton and it seems likely that his losing ways will continue as he now will face foes like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman who seem unlikely to drop any matches to the former champion. Without his family Bray is nowhere near as powerful and thus he is likely going to be losing constantly to the best of the best on Raw.
