During a recent interview with The Bobby Bones Show, former NFL player and TNA Wrestling talent Adam “Pacman” Jones recalled his time in TNA. According to Jones, former TNA President Dixie Carter helped him get signed to the Dallas Cowboys while working for the promotion.
The controversial athlete was suspended by the NFL in April 2007 for conduct detrimental to the NFL. He later signed a contract with TNA in August of that year.
The former NFL athlete claimed that the Cowboys owner flew down to watch a title match he was involved in. He later negotiated a deal with Jones to help him get reinstated to the NFL and sign with with the Cowboys.
Jones recalled (via Fightful), “Dixie is the one who called Jerry for me. Dixie is kin to Jerry Jones in some type of way. She asked me, ‘Who do you want to play for? If you had one choice, who would it be?’ Growing up, I was a Cowboys fan. First thing I said was Cowboys.”
He continued, “The week before the championship match, she said, ‘I have somebody I want you to talk to. Take the phone.’ ‘Hello.’ ‘Hey, this is Jerry Jones.’ Are you ****ing kidding me? ‘I heard you wanted to play for the Cowboys.’ ‘It would be a dream come true.’ After the championship match, he flew down for it, and I actually flew back with Jerry to Dallas to talk about the plan of me getting reinstated.”
At TNA No Surrender 2007, Pacman Jones teamed with R-Truth to win the TNA World Tag Team Titles, beating Kurt Angle and Sting. Pacman Jones rarely got physically involved in his TNA matches due to his existing NFL contract with the Tennessee Titans. This is because his NFL contract prohibited him from taking part in non-football activities that might get him injured.
However, he technically competed in a total of three matches during his time in TNA Wrestling.
