Former TNA World Champion Alex Shelley is going back to school. In a video he shared on his TikTok account, the WWE Superstar and former Tag Team Champion announced that he’s going back to Franklin University to pursue his physio license and National Strength & Conditioning Association Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist degree.

Alex Shelley wrote in the caption, “Cena’s the goat. I am in school again at @FranklinU taking classes to maintain my physio license and my NSCA CSCS.” In the video, he credited John Cena by talking about benefits that WWE athletes have access to, such as tuition reimbursement from learning new skills.

Shelley also praised Cena for leading by example, stating, “That’s why John Cena’s the goat, man, because he works, and I’m very grateful for his contributions to the company I currently work for.”

The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) have not competed on WWE TV since November 2025. They teamed up with Rey Fenix, Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura in a Survivor Series Style Elimination Match on Friday Night SmackDown. MFT picked up the victory.
