Backstage Note On Decision Behind HOOK’s New Entrance Theme

HOOK made his return to AEW TV this week with a new entrance theme, and a new report has details on why. As noted, the AEW star returned on this weeks Dynamite and had a new entrance song in Jay-Jay Johnson’s 1996 track “So Tell The Girls That I Am Back In Town.” Fightful Select reports that the decision was made to move away from Action Bronson’s theme for HOOK that he had for several years due to factors that came to boil last year.
According to the report, comments that Bronson made which were negative about the AEW environment last year led to some heat toward Bronson from a number of people in AEW. At least one person has said that things seem to have been smoothed over between the two sides at some point, but the decision had already been made at that point to give HOOK a different theme song.
The report goes on to note that back in January, it was said to them that HOOK was coming out without his entrance because by then the rights to Bronson’s song had expired and they were working on plans for the next entrance song for him. The report points out that back in January, AEW was making sure to bring HOOK out with others or to have him attack people without his entrance song playing.
