Backstage Note on Why AEW Reunited Kenny Omega With The Young Bucks

Back at last weekend’s AEW Full Gear 2025 event, The Young Bucks and Josh Alexander beat the team of Kenny Omega and The Jurassic Express. However, after the match, The Young Bucks turned on Don Callis and saved Omega from a beatdown by The Don Callis Family, reuniting The Elite.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has more details on why AEW opted to put Omega back with his old stablemates. The Observer reports that AEW wants to try and avoid putting Kenny Omega in long singles matches, which likely explains why AEW reformed The Elite with the Bucks.
As previously reported, Omega recently spoke to Shakiel Mahjouri for SHAK Wrestling regarding balancing his health with his life as an AEW wrestler. Omega said during the interview, “It’s very difficult to test your limit and find your limit when what I have affects me kind of day-by-day. Some days I feel great, some days I don’t.”
Omega continued, “So not only do I have to find my limit and how far I can push myself on the days I feel good, but I have to find that limit for on the days when I feel bad. Because like I said earlier before, the show must go on… I’ve got to go out there, and I’ve got to give my best.”
Omega has been sidelined for significant amounts of time for the last two years due to his bout with diverticulitis, and Omega has been seeking ways to adjust his career while dealing with the illness.
Kenny Omega is a founding member of All Elite Wrestling, having been a part of the promotion since it was first announced in 2019. He’s also an Executive Vice President of the Company.
