Backstage Notes From WWE SummerSlam 2026: Sunday, Plans for Liv Morgan, Nick Aldis Update

– Fightful Select has some new backstage notes from WWE SummerSlam 2026: Sunday. During last night’s show, Liv Morgan successfully retained her title against former champion Iyo Sky.

It’s been repeatedly stated that this was her first title defense after holding the title for over 100 days. According to Fightful, the outlet was “immediately told” after Morgan’s match that it won’t be another 100 days before she defends her title again.

– During SummerSlam, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis stepped into a WWE ring for the first time, challenging Gunther in a losing effort. Fightful reports that sources in WWE do not believe Aldis has wrestled his last WWE match. Following Aldis’ loss, WWE Chief Creative Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque reinstated Aldis as SmackDown General Manager. Additionally, it’s noted that Aldis looked to be banged up and sporting a black eye after the match.

– Additionally, Fightful notes that Royce Keys had to “legitimately” muscle up Jimmy Uso on the ropes during the six-man tag team bout featuring The Bloodline vs. Keys, LA Knight, and Solo Sikoa.

– Fightful Select also reports that former ring announcer and Total Divas cast member Jojo Offerman was backstage at the event yesterday.
