Backstage Update on Possibility of Mick Foley Wrestling in AEW

As previously reported, Mick Foley makes his AEW debut later today at the Double or Nothing Buy In, which he will co-host alongside Renee Paquette. AEW boss Tony Khan was even asked about the 60-year-old WWE Hall of Famer possibly wrestling in AEW during a recent media call, and said he’d love for Foley to wrestle in AEW.

Sean Ross Sapp answered a fan question on the possibility of Foley wrestling in AEW in the latest Fightful Select Answers Q&A. Citing conversations with The Takedown on Sports Illustrated’s Jon Alba, Sapp revealed that Alba seems convinced that Foley wrestling in AEW is a possibility. Sapp also speculated that Foley being booked in a Blood & Guts or Anarchy in the Arena match would be a possibility and possibly mask any of Foley’s limitations.

However, Sapp also noted that Tony Khan will not want it to happen unless it can be done safely. One of Foley’s former WCW and TNA colleagues, fellow WWE Hall of Famer Sting, did return to the ring during his AEW run, wrestling multiple times. However, he always took part in tag team matches over singles bouts.

For now, fans can tune into Mick Foley making his AEW debut later today during the Buy In pre-show starting at 7:00 pm ET.
