Ronda Rousey’s AEW status has been a major point of speculation since her shocking appearance at Revolution last weekend. AEW presented its annual pay-per-view from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, last Sunday. The show featured a one-on-one match between “Timeless” Toni Storm and Marina Shafir.
Storm emerged victorious in that bout, but the major talking point proved to be what happened after the match was over. As Storm basked in her glory at the entrance ramp, Ronda Rousey showed up in the ring, leaving the crowd and fans worldwide shocked. Rousey would end up having a confrontation with Storm before leaving alongside Marina Shafir amid a chorus of boos.
In the days since, fans have been wondering about her AEW status. Earlier today, Fightful Select cited sources within the company as claiming that Ronda hasn’t yet signed with the company. They claimed that her good relationship with Tony Khan, the numbers that her ROH match in November 2023 generated, and the fact that she lives close to the venue contributed to her appearance.
The report added that although Ronda Rousey got a desired reaction from the company’s perspective, she seemed to have expected a different response. Notably, Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the segment was designed for a one-off appearance from the UFC veteran.
Following Ronda Rousey’s appearance at AEW Revolution, Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer reported that some in WWE were shocked to see her in All Elite Wrestling. However, Fightful Select cited sources in WWE and TKO as claiming that that was not the case, and at this point, they expect her to do anything she can do against WWE, TKO, and UFC.
