Former WWE Superstar and UFC veteran Ronda Rousey shocked the wrestling world last night when she showed up at AEW Revolution. According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer (via WrestlingNews.co), many in WWE were caught off guard. According to Alvarez, while a few people were aware of Rousey’s planned appearance at Revolution, a majority of people were shocked to see her show up in All Elite Wrestling.
AEW Revolution emanated from a packed Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, last night. The event saw former Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm go one-on-one with The Death Riders’ enforcer Marina Shafir. Storm would end up beating Shafir. As she basked in her glory on the entrance ramp, Ronda Rousey appeared in the ring.
Toni stormed back to the ring to confront Rousey before match officials and security intervened to separate the two. Rousey left the arena alongside Marina Shafir amid a chorus of boos from the audience.
After leaving WWE, she wrestled a few matches on the independent circuit, tagging with Marina Shafir in each instance, which included appearances and a tag team match in Ring of Honor (ROH), which is also owned by Tony Khan. Later that year (2023), she announced her retirement from professional wrestling.
It is not yet clear if Ronda Rousey will be a regular act on AEW television moving forward. Tony Khan commented on her appearance last night at the Media Scrum. You can check those comments HERE.
