Callum Newman Vows to Participate in G1 Climax 2026 Despite Shoulder Injury

Former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Callum Newman is determined to compete in the upcoming G1 Climax despite being injured. As noted previously, Newman defended the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Yota Tsuji in the main event of last weekend’s Dominion event.
Not only did the 23-year-old lose the championship, but he also ended up dislocating his shoulder during the bout. He was scheduled to undergo an MRI scan to determine the extent of the injury. However, the results have yet to be revealed. Last night, Newman acknowledged on social media that his shoulder is badly messed up.
However, earlier today, he took to X and vowed to participate in G1 Climax 2026, even with one arm. He wrote, “I’ve got a point to prove. I’ll do the G1 Climax with one arm if I have to.” Check out Callum Newman’s post below:

Despite his injury, New Japan Pro-Wrestling has named Callum Newman as one of the participants in Block B alongside Zack Sabre Jr., Shota Umino, Yuya Uemura, Ren Narita, Drilla Moloney, HENARE, Gabe Kidd, and more. Meanwhile, Block A comprises Konosuke Takeshita, newly crowned IWGP Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji, SANADA, Oleg Boltin, and more. G1 Climax 2026 will take place from July 11 to August 16.
