As previously reported, Callum Newman lost the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to Yota Tsuji in the main event of today’s NJPW Dominion event in Osaka, Japan. Unfortunately, it appears that Newman suffered a shoulder injury during the title bout.

F4WOnline.com’s Bryan Alvarez (via F4WOnline.com) informed his subscribers on X that Newman suffered a disclosed shoulder during the bout. The wrestler is reportedly scheduled to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury.

Alvarez wrote in his X post, “Callum Newman injured his shoulder, likely on a belly-to-belly into the corner. They popped it back in, but it’s believed to be a dislocation, and he’ll be getting an MRI probably today to determine the severity.”

Newman was also just announced as one of the B Block competitors for the G1 Climax 36 tournament, which kicks off on July 11. At 23 years old, the wrestler became the youngest IWGP Heavyweight Champion in New Japan history when he won the belt from Yota Tsuji in April at Sakura Genesis.

Newman held the title for 71 days before losing back to Tsuji earlier today at Dominion.
