As previously reported, former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Callum Newman suffered a shoulder injury during his title bout with Yota Tsuji during the main event of last weekend’s NJPW Dominion 2026 event. It’s said that he dislocated his shoulder during the belly-to-belly suplex into the corner spot. Now, in a new update, Newman indicates that his shoulder is not doing well.
In an update he shared on his X account, Newman wrote, “Shoulder is ****ed thanks, Yota.” It was said that Callum Newman was getting his shoulder checked out with an MRI. However, the nature and severity of his injury were unknown at the time.
Newman was also just announced as part of the B Block for the G1 Climax 36 tournament, which is scheduled to kick off on July 11. It has not yet been announced if Newman’s injury will force him to withdraw from the tournament.
At 23 years old, Newman became the youngest IWGP Heavyweight Champion when he won the belt from Yota Tsuji earlier this year. He held the belt for 71 days before losing back to Tsuji last Sunday at Dominion.
