Cody Rhodes remains adamant that he doesn’t plan to stop being a babyface anytime soon as he tries to figure out how to get on the WrestleMania 42 card. Rhodes has been the preeminent babyface in WWE for the last several years, a role he has consistently embraced. While some have predicted a heel turn from Rhodes, it has been reported there are no plans to do so anytime soon.

And Rhodes is just fine with that. The former Undisputed WWE Champion appeared on Live With Kelly & Mark to promote WrestleMania and spoke about his hopes for the show and being a babyface in WWE. You can see highlights below:

On WrestleMania 42:

“I have to figure out exactly what I’m doing….I wish it was that easy [just picking an opponent]. Last year at WrestleMania 41, I wrestled John Cena on his retirement tour for the WWE Championship. And sadly, I am here today empty-handed, no WWE Championship.

“So the idea would be, WrestleMania 42, defending or challenging for the WWE Championship. And then I can come back to the show with the title in tow, a celebration.”

On Being a Babyface:

“Everybody runs in on my matches. It’s the bane of my existence as a good guy wrestler on TV. I get beat up a lot. What we what we would call an — this is not my term — a baby face… for a long time there were a lot of antiheroes and I — television, the nature of it. And just recently, it felt like WWE hit this stride with so much youth in the audience, that it felt like babyfaces came back to life. Jay Uso, for example, is somebody that the kids go crazy for. Sami Zayn is out there doing it. And for me to be able to be in that spot, I don’t want to leave it. It’s so much fun.”
