Daniel Cormier Explains Situation Around Eric Trump Tweet, Confirms He Was Hacked

Daniel Cormier confirms that his social media was hacked, which is what led to the tweet alleging that Eric Trump DM’d him about rigged fights at UFC Freedom 250. If you missed it, Cormier’s Twitter account posted a tweet that was later deleted, containing alleged screenshots of Eric Trump Direct Messaging him and saying he “will not tolerate this type of inside behavior.”
Eric Trump quickly denied the DMs were legitimate, and Cormier stated that he got hacked or something.” Cormier has now posted a video to his YouTube channel confirming that he was hacked and detailing what went down. You can see highlights below (courtesy of Fightful):
On Finding Out About the Tweet:
“I get to the UFC on Sunday and two of the UFC social media people are telling me, ‘We were just talking about you.’ ‘About what?’ ‘You and Eric Trump.’ ‘What about me and Eric Trump?’ I go to the event and they are telling me they are talking about something that I have no idea that is going on. I have no idea how long it was up or had been taken down.
“Whoever hacked my Twitter, they posted it and took it down because they think that people are going to believe stuff like that. At the end of the day, I would never do anything like that. I would never engage in those conversations or go to Twitter and post that. I wouldn’t do that.”
On the Logic Problem With the Tweet:
“It doesn’t make sense logically to think that I would do that. One, I don’t really talk like that. Two, I’m going to the White House to do that fight. Why, right before I got into the White House, would I do something like that, knowing I’m going to be around all these people? It doesn’t make sense.”
On the Status Of His Twitter Account:
“I’m barely getting into my Twitter account these last two and a half days. I’ve been working with Twitter to get me back into my account. I’m trying to broadcast this historical event, and in the middle of it all, I’m trying to change the password to make sure people aren’t posting crazy things from the account.”
On Why It Doesn’t Make Sense:
“I’m telling you it isn’t true, and people don’t want to believe it. It isn’t true. That man did not ask me that type of stuff. I don’t think he’s stupid enough to do that. I don’t think anybody would be dumb enough to do that to someone they don’t know. He doesn’t know me. We don’t follow each other. I met Donald Trump Jr on Saturday and mistook him for Eric Trump. I don’t follow politicians that closely. I didn’t have a conversation. I didn’t put a tweet out. I would never do that. Had I done that and I go to the Octagon, all of a sudden I’m around all the people I tried to expose. It doesn’t make sense.”
