Update On If WWE Clash in Italy Will Be Brock Lesnar’s Last Match

As noted, Brock Lesnar appeared in a video on last night’s WWE Raw, calling himself a “humbled, retired Beast” ahead of his scheduled rematch with Oba Femi at this weekend’s WWE Clash in Italy premium live event. Dave Meltzer had some more insight on what’s going on with Lesnar during today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.
According to Meltzer, WWE’s idea for most of the year will be that Lesnar will officially retire at SummerSlam 2026, which is taking place in Lesnar’s home state of Minnesota. Meltzer stated, “The idea has been that Lesnar will retire at SummerSlam this year for, you know, like the whole year practically.”
Meltzer then “presumed” that this last match will be Lesnar’s “last match” until “his next last match,” referring to Lesnar’s retirement as a “pro wrestling retirement,” something wrestlers routinely go back on.
Bryan Alvarez then questioned how WWE could bill Lesnar’s match at SummerSlam as a “retirement match” when Lesnar is already calling himself “retired” right now. Meltzer then said they could still bill it at Lesnar’s “last match,” which he hasn’t had yet, also noting that WWE is using the word “retired” in a very liberal sense.
Meltzer added on Lesnar, “He is retired because they are using the word, but he’s obviously not retired because he’s wrestling on this one, and I’m sure he’s wrestling — I would presume this is his last match until SummerSlam, but it’s not his last match.”
