Ed Nordholm Confirms Abyss and Sonjay Dutt’s Impact Depatures, Details On Their Roles In WWE
We reported yesterday that both Abyss and Sonjay Dutt were leaving Impact Wrestling and will be working for WWE soon. Konnan and Tommy Dreamer will handle their creative duties at Impact Wrestling.
In a statement to Wrestling Inc, Impact President Ed Nordholm said: “We reached an amicable agreement with Sonjay and Abyss to allow them to pursue this opportunity. They have been tremendous contributors to IMPACT Wrestling and we wish them every success. We are thrilled that Konnan and Tommy Dreamer have agreed to bring their 50+ years of experience to our core creative team.”
PWInsider reports that Abyss and Dutt are coming to WWE in backstage roles and not a performers. It’s unknown what their roles will be exactly, but Cageside Seats says that early speculation on Dutt is that he could be involved with opening a Performance Center in India.
Triple H said on yesterday’s media call that WWE is looking to hire people to staff the UK Performance Center and other roles in the NXT system. There’s also been some talk of hiring new producers in WWE. Impact reportedly allowed the two to leave the company as they didn’t want to hold them back from opportunities.
