ESPN’s Jay Bilas Would Be Interested in a Potential WWE Crossover, Hosting a Return of the Draft

Undisputed’s Justin Barrasso recently spoke to ESPN NBA analyst Jay Bilas, who discussed a potential crossover with WWE for ESPN coverage of the WWE product. Bilas said if WWE were ever to hold another draft, he’d be on board to cover the event. Bilas stated (via Fightful), “I wouldn’t say no to that. I love wrestling. I grew up on it.”
Bilas added on his wrestling fandom growing up, “I really enjoyed it when I was growing up, and my favorite was John Tolos. But the wrestling I watched feels primitive compared to what we see now. With all the pageantry, it’s become this incredible spectacle.”
WWE has not held the WWE Draft since April 2024. It’s unknown if WWE is ever planning to reintroduce the draft again at some point. It now appears that Superstars move rosters or from NXT through various trades or “transfer windows” between respective general managers Adam Pearce (Raw), Nick Aldis (SmackDown), and Robert Stone (NXT).
Earlier this year, it was reported by Bodyslam+ that there was no tentative date set for the 2026 WWE Draft. So, despite Jay Bilas’ interest, it doesn’t appear that the Draft will be making its return anytime soon.
