Grayson Waller Says His WWE NXT Title Win Surpasses His Tag Title Win at WrestleMania 40

During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, reigning WWE NXT Champion Grayson Waller spoke about his title victory at NXT Heatwave, comparing it to when he won the WWE Tag Team Titles with Austin Theory at WrestleMania 40. Below are some highlights (via WrestlingInc.com):

Grayson Waller on Winning the NXT Title Meaning More Than Winning at WrestleMania 40

“Winning the title at WrestleMania was like — that’s the childhood dream, that’s the one that you can retire [on] the next day. Especially being from Australia, even getting a chance to be on WrestleMania and being there with Theory. … Holding those titles, that meant a lot, but that was when … I was on the come-up. Sunday night on Heatwave, like that was from — I was from the basement, I was from the depths. So winning this championship meant so much more, personally.”

On Thinking His Title Win Wasn’t a Possibility

“There were times that I never thought this was going to be a possibility anymore. I thought the ship had sailed, but nobody handed me this! I got this because of what I did. I made it happen, and that’s why it means more.”

At WWE NXT Heatwave 2026, Waller competed in a Fatal 4-Way matchup with Tony D’Angelo, Cruz Montana, and Zilla Fatu. Waller won the bout to capture the title.
