AEW star Harley Cameron had a memorable 2025, as she got over with fans due to her exceptional and highly entertaining character work. Cameron’s comedic chops and her ability to maximize her minutes have resonated with fans immensely, establishing her as one of the most entertaining acts on the roster.

Cameron was recently rewarded for her exceptional work, as she and Willow Nightingale became the inaugural AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions. They retained the title against Mercedes Mone and Athena at this past weekend’s Worlds End PPV.

In a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Cameron opened up about how it came about for her on AEW television this year.

Below are the highlights:

On getting compared to WWE’s Chelsea Green

“Oh, that’s a huge compliment. I’m a huge fan of her work.”

Harley Cameron credits her appearance on RJ City’s Hey! (EW) and QT Marshall’s feedback for her character work on AEW TV

“I think when I began wrestling, I was really fixated on who I was as a character, and I dabbled with a lot of things. It wasn’t until RJ City’s show, where we just kind of had an organic conversation, and he’s so great at what he does. He pulls out, you know, your background; he’s fantastic. And on that show, we had a lot of back-and-forth comedic banter, and then, like, I sang and got the guitar out and everything. And it was actually QT (Marshall) who saw that and said to me, he’s like, ‘You organically, I think, is [SIC] entertaining.’”

“And he was like, ‘There’s not many people, like…’ There is the old saying that your wrestling persona should be you times a thousand. I don’t think it works in every scenario, he said, ‘but I think for you, it’s the right avenue to go because you’re a national performer and you’re like naturally quirky. There’s like when you’re just yourself, it’s I wanna watch it.’ So, I definitely will say doing that show with RJ allowed me to dive into that, and then I realized, ‘Okay, maybe I should be more of who I am because I have been a performer my whole life; it just kind of comes out naturally.’”

Harley Cameron speculates reasons behind RJ City’s show coming to an end

“I think a magnitude of reasons. He has gone through a lot of people on the roster. It’s a show that rotates the talent, obviously. It’s been going for years now, so I think that it’s like one of things where it’s like, ‘Okay, let’s end this’ on his terms, where, like, as opposed to, ‘Well, who is the next 30 guest?’ We gotta figure that out.’ Also, he’s, you know, one of the hardest working people in the company, I would say. He’s probably, like, you know, ready to see what’s next for him in what he can present. And I think that, he was like, ‘Okay, it’s time to wrap this one up.’ But he’s very talented. I’m sure he’s going to do something great next, too.”
