Jim Ross gave a bit more detail on the brain surgery that he’s set to undergo while thanking fans for their support. As noted, the AEW announcer and WWE Hall of Famer revealed on his Grilling JR podcast that he would be undergoing surgery to remove excess fluid and having a shunt put it. A CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) shunt is a tube that is inserted in order to drain excessive spinal or brain fluid to another part of the body, usually the abdomen.
Ross posted to his Twitter account to explain exactly that, writing on Tuesday afternoon:
“Thanks for the outpouring of support regarding my upcoming brain surgery.
A hole will be drilled in my skull and a small tube will be inserted reach into my stomach to better manage/drain excess brain fluid.
I’m optimistic. Thanks to all.”
JR has had a number of health issues over the past few years and spent some weeks in the hospital following a fall after coming home from AEW Double or Nothing in May.
On behalf of 411, out best wishes to Jim Ross on a quick and full recovery.
Thanks for the outpouring of support regarding my upcoming brain surgery.
