Joseph Sawyer Comments on Avery Styles & Arik Cannon Controversy

During a recent interview with Fightful’s Joe Pearl, former WWE Superstar Joseph Sawyer (aka Joe Gacy) was asked about the recent controversy involving Avery Styles, the son of WWE Hall of Famer AJ Styles, and Arik Cannon. As many already know, Cannon criticized Avery for avoiding helping to set up the chairs at a recent GCW show that both wrestlers worked.

Joseph noted that he spent time putting up chairs at events earlier in his career. He also shared his opinion that such issues shouldn’t have been dealt with online.

Joseph Sawyer explained, “That hot button right now about setting the chairs up and I mean, I did it at some point and there was a point where, I don’t know, I did it maybe when I didn’t have to but, here’s what I’ll say about that whole thing: Regardless of any issues that you have with somebody, they don’t need to be online, and that’s all I’ll leave it at.”

Multiple wrestlers across the industry have been weighing in on the controversy, including former WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, WWE Superstar Nattie Neidhart, and of course, AJ Styles himself.
