Konnan Criticizes Tiger Driver Use At Forbidden Door II, Calling It “Just Dangerous”
On his most recent K100 podcast, Konnan weighed in on the match between Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega at Forbidden Door II, expressing disbelief at some of the choices made during the bout (via Wrestling Inc). Konnan particularly highlighted the wrestlers’ utilization of the Tiger Drive ’91 element, citing the level of risk as unnecessary while also admitting that some talent is in favor of that sort of thing. You can find a few highlights on the subject and listen to the full podcast below.
On the risk inherent in executing a Tiger Driver ’91: “You must really be a daredevil, an adrenaline junkie, and have a horseshoe, a rabbit’s foot, and a lucky charm up your ass to have somebody land all your weight on your neck and not think, ‘Bro, there’s a good chance I might be paralyzed, snap something, break something, tear something.’ I don’t know, it’s just dangerous to me.”
On the mindset behind using the finisher: “Here’s the thing, bro, and you gotta remember there’s guys that don’t give a shit if they don’t protect themself or even break something just to please the fans. They want it to look as realistic as possible, and if they get knocked out in the process, they do. There’s people like that.”
