AEW star Kyle Fletcher recently reflected on his emotions during his recent injury-related hiatus and his return at Double or Nothing this past Sunday.

The ProtoStar tore his meniscus and fractured his ankle during a match on Collision in late March. He subsequently relinquished the AEW TNT Championship and went on a hiatus. Fletcher made a shocking return at Double or Nothing 2026 following the International Championship match between Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita. After initially helping Takeshita fend off Okada and Co., the Australian turned his back on the newly crowned International Champion.

In his latest vlog, Protolog, Kyle Fletcher shared his journey from dealing with the injury to his shocking return in New York last weekend. The Australian admitted he didn’t feel like a pro wrestler during his time on the sidelines. He also admitted to being left “speechless” post-comeback.

Here’s what he said:

“It’s a very weird feeling because everything just—you feel like you build up this moment for so long, and then even two minutes, even, you know, three minutes, just feels like it goes by in the blink of an eye. That’s really what it felt like.

“What, just an absolute overwhelming flush of emotions. I wasn’t out for a long time; I was only out for eight weeks, or two months. I didn’t even feel like a pro wrestler anymore. I felt like a dude that just stayed at home on his couch and worked out. That’s about, that’s all I did for the last two months.

“So, for that to go as well as it did. Not really much more to say; I’m a little bit speechless. It feels pretty cool, man.”

While he did return to AEW television at DoN ’26, Fletcher has yet to be medically cleared to resume in-ring duties.
