The Latest Word on Chad Gable and El Grande Americano

It’s a classic trope in wrestling. A character gets suspended or banned from doing something. Suddenly an extremely familiar-looking “new” character in a mask shows up, in apparent violation of the rules. The entire audience knows who it is, but their opponent is required to definitively prove it, and is constantly foiled in the attempt. Dusty Rhodes did it as the Midnight Rider, Hulk Hogan was Mr. America, and Chad Gable’s initial stint as El Grande Americano was a hilarious update.
Then Gable got injured, with no resolution to the angle, which led to Ludwig Kaiser donning the mask and taking over the role. Gable is scheduled to return as early as this month, so how does he fit in now? According to Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select, Gable’s return won’t simply mean he takes over the mask again as the El Grande Americano character.
Current plans are to keep Kaiser in the role. Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne, who have been portraying Rayo and Bravo Americano, are also expected to keep those roles for the time being.
As for Gable, creative is apparently looking for ways to get him back into the angle that don’t involve getting rid of anybody else. One possibility is for the Creeds to also become involved. A six-man feud might seem like a natural fit.
Gable is a former NXT Tag Team Champion as well Smackdown Tag Team Champion with his partner Jason Jordan as American Alpha and Raw Tag Team Championship with Bobby Roode as well as Otis.
