As reported last week, WWE is said to be in negotiations with Warner Bros. Discovery (among others) for the media rights to Monday Night RAW. WBD is currently the home of AEW, with Dynamite on TBS and Rampage & Collision on TNT. In the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that a deal between WWE and WBD is reportedly ‘absolutely in play’, even with recent reports that WBD and Paramount are discussing a merger.
Meltzer said that one reason that WBD may prefer WWE to AEW is because the former is the top wrestling company, and this would give them more benefits. However, it would be a question if the cost of acquiring RAW is worth those benefits, especially as WWE would cost them more than AEW. Even if AEW received a huge increase for a rights deal next year, it would still be cheaper than WWE.
