Leighty’s Retro Review: WWF Survivor Series ’94

-Written: 6.1.26
-Source: Netflix
-Run Time: 2:42:00

-Announce Team: Vince McMahon and Gorilla Monsoon
-Nov. 23, 1994
-Freeman Coliseum, San Antonio, TX
-Attendance: 10,000
-PPV Buys: 254,000

-The unique pairing of Vince and Gorilla welcome us to the show and both are sporting cowboy hats. An announcer wearing a cowboy hat? That will never get over. What’s next, an announcer wearing a mask?

Survivor Series Elimination Match: The Teamsters (Diesel, Shawn Michaels, Owen Hart, Jim Neidhart, and Jeff Jarret) vs. The Bad Guys (Razor Ramon, The 1-2-3 Kid, The Headshrinkers, and The British Bulldog)

-The Headshrinkers in this case is Fatu and Sionne (Barbarian). We have five people in this match that ended up in some version of the nWo. Slow start as they wait for the crowd to settle in. For some reason Fatu is sitting on his ass on the floor changing his boots. It looked like Kid and Owen would start, but instead Anvil starts for his team. He runs Kid down but gets caught with a dropkick. Clothesline ducked, but Kid throws himself at Anvil and bounces off. Kind of what happens if you throw yourself at an anvil. JJ in and he lands a right hand in the corner. He struts and pays for it as Kid lands a kick to the face. He gets two off a pin and tags in Sionne. Boot misses, but he catches JJ with a Gorilla Press Slam. Sionne pounds away in the corner, but JJ gets the boots up to block and comes off the top with a clothesline. Cover only gets two as Sionne kicks out with ease. JJ tags Owen and he wants The Bulldog. The fans want to see it as well. They do their normal sequence as they work off the arm. We get flips and counters. Catapult sends Owen into the wrong corner and we get the fun visual of some clubbering. Gorilla Press Slam to Owen! Sunset Flip from Bulldog gets two, but Owen catches him with an enziguiri. Anvil in and we get a double clothesline. Anvil slams Bulldog down by the hair. Double clothesline is missed, and Bulldog clotheslines both men. Delayed Vertical Suplex to Anvil and tag to Fatu. He nearly slips climbing the ropes and drops a head butt. He keeps messing with his boots and that lets Anvil tag Jarrett. He rushes in and Fatu hits a powerslam. Razor in and JJ slides to his corner to beg off. JJ with an arm-drag and he struts. JJ gets a take down and slaps Razor on the back of the head. Razor lands a right hand and sends JJ to the floor with a clothesline. Razor decks Diesel as Owen and Anvil check on JJ. Shawn is able to calm Diesel down as he tells Diesel that Razor is burning energy. Back in Razor gets the SOS Slam on Jarrett. Kid back in and Razor gives him the SOS Slam so that he lands on Jarrett. Boot from Jarret and he locks an abdominal stretch. Come on man! I don’t need an abdominal stretch in a 5 v 5 Survivor Series Match. I don’t care if Shawn is helping cheat from the apron. JJ finally gets caught cheating and Kid reverses, but Jarret sends him to the floor with a hip toss. Kid floats over on a suplex and lands a spin kick. Fatu in, but so is Owen. Shawn and Diesel have yet to be in the match and we are nearing 13 minutes. Work smarter I guess! Owen makes the mistake of hitting Fatu in the head. Blind tag by Owen to Fatu, who hits Owen with a super kick. No matter as Diesel is legal and hits a clothesline and Jackknife to eliminated Fatu at 13:30.

-Teamsters up 5-4: Kid in and gets a flurry, but Diesel lifts him off the mat by the throat and slams him down. Jackknife and he gets pinned with one foot on his chest at 14:13.

-Teamsters up 5-3: Sionne in he doesn’t get much an Jackknife finishes him at 14:48.

-Teamsters up 5-2: Bulldog has a go and goes crazy with strikes and shoulders in the corner. Big Boot from Diesel sends Bulldog to the floor. Bulldog gets attacked on the floor by Owen and JJ and gets counted out at 16:00.

-Teamsters up 5-1: It’s almost like they are prepping Diesel for something. Razor in and gets a roll-up for two. He ducks a clothesline and starts trading strikes with Nash. Razor wins that exchange and hits the discus punch. Razor blocks a charge in the corner and hits the middle rope bulldog for two. The crowd bit on that one. Clothesline from Diesel and Shawn yells instructions from the apron. Snake Eyes! Was something wrong with Shawn here, that he’s not actually working the match? Shawn wants a jackknife, but he goes for Snake Eyes and Razor escapes and shoves Diesel into the corner. Razor’s Edge, but Diesel backdrops his way out. Shawn is still bitching at Diesel to finish this. Diesel hits the bog boot and now calls for the Jackknife. He hits it and Shawn wants the tag to pick the bones. Shawn has Diesel hold Razor up for the superkick and that backfires as Diesel eats the superkick. Vince notes that’s the third time that has happened on TV. Shawn screams at Diesel, and the big man fires up on him to pop the crowd. He shoves his own team away as they try to hold him back. They all end up in the aisle as Shawn back peddles. Everyone on the Teamsters gets counted out at 21:45 (no bell, but that’s when the ref stopped counting). In a nice character touch, Owen seems to be the one the most annoyed about losing. That’s Owen!

Winner and Sole Survivor: Razor Ramon via count-out at 21:45
-Diesel looked like a monster for obvious reasons while Shawn looked like a dick (for obvious reasons). Razor winning in that manner was the only real way they had to get there, but it was still silly. They could have had Owen, JJ, and Anvil lose before getting to the ending. This just made the entire team look dumb. They had the 5-1 advantage and even if Shawn and Diesel left it would still have been 3-1 and Razor was just power bombed. This was the Diesel show before turning into The Diesel and Shawn saga. The crowd was hot for it though. **1/2

-Todd is with Shawn as he is leaving with his bags packed. He gets into his car and throws the Tag Title on the ground. He calls Diesel a zero and says he can hit the bricks.

4 on 4 Survivor Series Elimination Match: The Royal Family (Jerry “The King” Lawler, Cheesy, Queasy, and Sleazy) vs. Clowns R Us (Doink, Dink, Pink and Wink)

-It’s Lawler and his little people against Doink and his little people. Much like Mania III, the rules are Big vs Big and Little vs Little only. So that already brings a problem as if Lawler or King get eliminated first the match is over because the littles can’t eliminate the one regular sized man in the match. Lawler tries an enziguiri and lands on his face. Doink works the arm and the minis run in and step over Lawler’s stomach. The Little Kings chase and step on Lawler in a comedy spot. This is what we are getting with this match, so just accept it for what it is. Lawler yells at his minis and then has another go with Dink. He takes Doink down and now the mini Kings run over Doink, but trip on the way back. Lawler yells at them again as you can tell where this is leading. Burger King chant from the crowd. Doink with a slam and another and another and Lawler falls over backwards. Each mini clown covers and Doink makes the count. McMahon is laughing his ass off at all of this. Lawler repeats the slam and spot with his minis and Doink kicks out so that Queasy lands on Lawler and Doink makes a two count. This is not supposed to be a wrestling classic and just entertaining the kids and parents in the crowd. Doink puts a BK Crown on Lawler in another comedy spot. This has a certain charm to it but it’s no Danhausen cloning machine match. Dink is on the shoulders of Doink for some chicken fighting. Lawler actually gets on the shoulders of sleazy and they fall immediately. I give them credit for going all out with the bit here. It’s so dumb, but It can’t help but smile! Knuckle Lock by Doink and Lawler which lets the minis come in and do a quadruple criss-cross. The mini kinds get embarrassed again and Lawler yells some more. Lawler gets a foreign object from one of his minis as we play phantom object. He stuffs it in his tights after decking Doink and the kids in the crowd are trying to yell at the ref what’s happened. Cheesy and Queasy choke Doink on the middle ropes. The 3 Little Kings get their feet up, but Doink reverse and Lawler gets run into them. The minis do laps along the apron and start brawling. Lawler reverses a cross-body and gets a handful of tights to pink Doink at 10:45.

-Royal Family up 4-3: Vince and Gorilla note this basically eliminates Lawler as well. Not how that should work actually, but I guess they still need to have a match. Dink pits the ass of Queasy and then bits Lawler on the ass as well. Cheesy and Wink have a go next. Wink grabs Cheesy by the bear and holds while Dink comes off the top with a double axe. Monkey Flip out of the corner. Wink back in but Lawler prevents a monkey flip and gives extra leverage as Cheesy gets the pin at 13:20.

-Royal Family up 4-2: Pink in and he does some flips so Slezy tries and falls. Lawler yells some more. Queasy with a slam and he spins Pink on his head like a top. Lawler then drops Cheesy on Pink for the pin at 14:32.

-Royal Family up 4-1: Pink hides under the ring instead of leaving. Vince and Gorilla think Wink may be hiding there as well. Dink with a slam on Sleazy and then beats up Cheesy and Quesy as well. He runs them into each other. Slam on Sleazy and he comes off the top with a cross-body for two as Lawler goes to break up the pin. That pulls the ref away and Cheesy turns the pin and Sleazy gets the pin at 16:06.

Winners: The Royal Family via pin at 16:06
-It was a comedy match so don’t expect good wrestling. The crowd seemed entertained, but it started to drag a bit when Doink was eliminated. Lawler cheating at every turn was pretty funny and on brand for him. Not a good match, but I’ve seen worse and at least this had moments that made me smile. **

-Lawler celebrates and calls his team a bunch of idiots. “I hate short people.” He has them leave the ring so he can celebrate and chases them around the ring. The mini clowns are back out and stick up for their vertically challenged friends. They chase Lawler, who runs up the aisle. Doink is back and he hits Lawler in the face with a pie to tie this into Thanksgiving.

-Todd throws to video of Alundra Blaze losing the WWF Women’s Championship to Bull Nakano in The Tokyo Dome. Bull is standing next to Todd and cuts a promo in Japanese and Todd has to talk to her slowly as he wants her to cut a promo in English.

Submission Match: Bret “The Hitman” Hart (c) (w/ The British Bulldog) vs. Bob Backlund (w/ Owen Hart)

-Stu and Helen Hart are in the front row. Vince notes Backlund is still not over his manager throwing in the towel against The Iron Sheik. Owen and Bulldog are there to throw in the towel when they think their man has had enough. Another PPV as WWF Champion for Bret where he’s not in the Main Event. Backlund charges at the bell and Bret catches him with a slam. Hip toss and Bob bails to the floor. Owen helps him back in and Bret with a headbutt, so Bob rolls to the floor again. Bulldog shoves him back in this time and Bret gets another slam and drops an elbow. Ugly looking bulldog as Bob’s feet didn’t come off the ropes in a way to make the move look better. Vince reminds us that Backlund asked for the submission stipulation. Backlund breaks a side headlock with a belly-to-back suplex. Bret stays on him though, drops a leg and goes to a reverse chinlock. Vince brings up they had a phone poll of what finisher was more dangerous and the cross-face chicken wing got 79% of the vote. As it should! That move hurts and yes, I did use it on my sister, and my friends growing up. Weak shoulder tackle, but Bob counters another one with a drop toehold and nearly gets the CFCW, but Bret counters back to a side headlock. Bret’s wife and kids are shown and have worse seats than Stu and Helen. The headlock continues until Bob counters and goes for the CFCW again, but Bret blocks. Front facelock from Bret as he Backlund blocked a sharpshooter attempt. Bret switches to an abdominal stretch, but Bob powers out with a throw. Backlund goes for a slam, but Bret falls back on top for a pin, but no count. That was there just to show us that pins don’t mean anything in this one. Bret with a slam, but misses an elbow from the middle ropes. Bob goes to work on the elbow that connected with the canvas. He sends Bret into the corner and then wraps the arm around the middle rope. He stalks Bret as the crowd freaks out over the idea that Bob can get the CFCW. Backlund settles for a standing wrist lock. Bret kips up, but Bob catches him with a forearm to the face. Bret goes after Owen, but sense Backlund and decks him. Back in the ring they collide heads and Bob got the worst of it, so he goes back to the arm. Vince harps on Bob being 45 and that’s par for the course with today’s WWE Main Event stars. They trade some blows and Backlund ends up controlling with a hammerlock. He stomps the pinned arm and goes back to an armbar. Bret gets to his feet and kicks his way out, but Bob goes back to the arm. Inverted Atomic Drop from Bret! Bret goes for the Sharpshooter, but Bob kicks away so Bret got with a figure-four as we approach 15 minutes in this one. Owen’s not even holding the towel as he has his arms crossed. Owen starts thinking about it as the crowd gets on his case, but he has faith in Bob. Owen tells the ref the towel is staying right there. Backlund has been in the hold for over two minutes at this point. Bob rolls to reverse the pressure and Owen tells Bulldog to throw in the towel because “he’s going to hurt him.” Davey says no way and Bret counters back, so Backlund gets to the bottom rope to force a break. Bret drops an elbow to the damaged knee and repeats a few times. Clothesline from Bret and right back to the knee. Sharpshooter attempt, but again, Bob gets to the ropes. Backlund rams Bret face first into the mat to turn the tide. Piledriver and it’s a pretty swank one from Bob. Both men are down and start to crawl around the ring looking for a way to get their feet. Bob nearly gets The CFCW, but Bret gets to the ropes. Owen asks his brother, “did it hurt?” Bob with a swinging neckbreaker as we pass the 21 minute mark. Backlund sends Bret into the corner and then again, but misses a charge and goes shoulder first into the post. Backdrop from Bret to escape another piledriver. Bob ducks a punch and grabs a sleeper. Gorilla says it’s not a submission hold but can knock someone out. Bret runs to the corner and runs Bob chin first into the top buckle. They end up colliding in the ring to leave both men down. Bret up first and he drops a leg. He then STICKS Bob with a piledriver. That was pretty! Bulldog from Bret! Side Russian Leg Sweep as we hit The Five Moves of Doom! Backbreaker and Bret comes off the middle ropes with the elbow. Bret yanks Bob from the ropes and goes for the Sharpshooter. That brings Owen into the ring and Davey gives chase. The ref stops Bulldog and that lets Owen hit a bulldog on Bret to break up the Sharpshooter and the crowd is not happy. Bulldog rushes Owen and lunges, but goes head first into the steps. Owen seems concerned, but Bret isn’t buying it and cusses his brother out. Backlund gets the cross-face chicken wing at a bit over 25 minutes. Owen starts yelling that he is sorry to Bret and is doing a heck of a job showing remorse and concern. He goes back to wake up the Bulldog. Bob gets Bret to the mat after two minutes of struggling. Bret is able to get back to a seated position, but can’t find a way out of the hold. They go split screen so we can see a concerned Helen and Stu in the front row. Bret gets to his feet as he has been in the hold for three minutes. Backlund pulls him away from the ropes and back to a body scissors position with the hold. Owen is in tears as Vince yells “this is the true Owen Hart.” Bulldog has been out cold on the floor for four minutes now. Probably should have had some EMTs head down to check on him to add to the realism. Gorilla goes over the various muscles that may be tearing in Bret’s arm and shoulder. Owen tells Stu and Helen they need to do something and that he didn’t mean for this to happen. Owen is great here! He tells Helen she needs to throw the towel in and you can hear some fans yelling the same. “That’s my brother.” Oh, man, Owen is the star of this match! We’ve passed six minutes since the hold was applied and yes, Bulldog is still out cold. Bret shows some life to get the crowd going, but he can’t find a way out of the hold. Bret has some blood on his cheek and I’m not sure if his face wa scratched. Owen goes back to begging his mom and dad to do something. “That’s my brother. That’s your son.” He is on his knees talking about spending Christmas and Thanksgiving together. I love this so much! Owen moves the railing and gets Helen and Stu by the ring. He hands the towel to Helen, but Stu pulls it away as he is cool with sacrificing his sons’s career. I also find it funny they just walked over Bulldog without showing any concern. It’s been over nine minutes and now we get a loud “let’s go Bret,” chant. Helen has had enough and throws in the towel to end this one at 35:16 and Owen grabs the towel and sprints away.

Winner and New WWF Champion: Bob Backlund via submission at 36:16
-I mean, it was kind of boring at times, but the story is fantastic and Owen puts in a star making performance without taking a bump. It’s long but kind of flies by because you get sucked into the drama. I enjoyed this more than I remembered but again, a lot of that is due to Owen and the story they told. ***1/2

-Bret gets helped out and looks back, devastated as they announce Bob as the new WWF Champion. Nice touch there!

-Todd is backstage with Owen Hart and he is just BEAMING. I love Owen! He calls it the greatest Thanksgiving of his life and says his parents fell into his trap. He takes joy in Bret no longer being Champion and notes Bret cheated when they wrestled. “You’re not a Champion anymore. You’re a loser and I’m a King.” I want to give Owen 5 stars for his performance here!

5 vs 5: Survivor Series Elimination Match: The Million Dollar Team (Tatanka, Bam Bam Bigelow, King Kong Bundy, and The Heavenly Bodies) (w/ Ted Dibiase) vs. Guts and Glory (Lex Luger, Mabel, Mo, Adam Bomb, and The Smoking Gunns) (w/ Oscar)

-Luger and Tatanka start as Tatanka backs off and then kicks Luger in the gut. He chops Luger down to the mat and runs him head first into the top buckle. Chops, but Lex’s pecs are immune after all those years facing Flair. Tatanka with a suplex and Lex is up first and flexes. He lands a shot to the gut and plans Tatanka face first on the mat. A series of clotheslines and the last one sends Tatanka to the floor. One Body in and gets clotheslined. The other in and gets tossed onto Bigelow. Bundy rushes in but Mabel comes in and the crowd pops as they want to see the big me go. Bundy back off as we reset. Prichard and Mabel next and Prichard gets shoved on his ass. Tom tries a cross-body, but gets caught and slammed. He misses an elbow and Dr. Tom starts throwing strikes. He tries an Irish Whip, but that goes nowhere and Mabel gets a backdrop. Mabel off the middle ropes with a cross-body and Dr. Tom is punned at 3:58.

-Guts and Glory up 5-4: Jimmy in and gets DRILLED with a modified Rock Bottom. Doing all my Nitro reviews and I still blow away that The Gigolo turned into Jimmy Graffiti. Bundy in and we get the big man showdown that Mabel wins with relative ease. The crowd is popping for everything from Mabel here and I wonder if this is where Vince started to get a spark in his eyes for the big man. Bigelow in and Mable hits a spinning heel kick. Mabel goes all the way up, but Bammer slams him down. He comes off the top with a sunset flip attempt, but Mabel sits down and that sucks for Bigelow. Clothesline sends both men over the top and to the floor. This is Survivor Series so you know where this is going. Bigelow crawls in to beat the count and Mabel is counted out at 7:15.

-Tied at 4: Billy Gunn in and Jimmy returns as they start trading blows. Superkick from Jimmy and he gets a jackknife cover for two. Billy escapes and gets a backslide for two. Tags on both sides gives us Bomb vs. Bigelow. Bomb escapes a suplex but misses a charge and flies over the top to the floor. He’s right back in with a sling shot clothesline. Another clothesline and another! Slam by Bomb. He gets decked by Bundy from the apron and Bigelow gets a bulldog. Top Rope Moonsault pins Bomb at 9:12.

-Million Dollar Team up 4-3: Luger in with a quick roll-up for two. Jimmy back in and hits Luger with a superkick. He chokes Luger and gets a two count. Luger lands a few body shots, but Jimmy goes to the eyes. Luger ducks a clothesline and hits one of his own for the pin at 10:56.

-Tied at 3: Tatanka in, but so is Bart and he gets an atomic drop. Dropkick gets a two count. Double Leg Sweep by The Gunns gets a two count. Quick tags in and out by The Gunns as they work over Tatanka. We’ve kind of hit a lull here since Mabel was eliminated. Billy with a dropkick for two. Bart with a monkey flip that has Tatanka land awkwardly on his ankle. Side Winder only gets two. They had me thinking Tatanka might have injured his knee there and needed to be eliminated. Tatanka ends up hitting End of The Trail on Bart for the pin at 14:34.

-Million Dollar Team up 3-2: Luger comes off the top with a double ax to Tatanka’s arm. Hip-toss into a pin gets two for Billy. Elbow gets a two count. This has been weird as Tatanka has been taking the beating as the heel. Almost like they are building to him get a hot tag, but that’s backwards. Especially with Tatanka’s team having the numbers advantage. Tatanka catches a leaping Billy with a powerslam and hot tag (not really) to Bundy. He misses an elbow but reverses a whip and hits a splash. He drops an elbow for the pin at 17:15. Should have hit the Avalanche Splash.

-Million Dollar Team up 3-1: USA chant from the crowd. Bundy and Bigelow are from Jersey I believe. Luger gets trapped in the wrong corner. He avoids a Bigelow splash and hits a clothesline on Tatanka and one on Bundy. He gets two on Tatanka which was close and the crowd is not happy with that call. Sunset flip, but Tatanka makes a tag to Bigelow. The ref still tries to count Tatanka down even though he recognized the tag. Weird! Bigelow delivers a suplex and back to Bundy. He lands a back elbow and drops a knee for two. Tatanka chops Luger down as Ted cuts a promo to the camera. Another USA chant. Bundy sends Luger into the corner and drops an elbow for two. Tatanka back in and gets a powerslam for two. The crowd is checked out as they are just waiting to see if Luger make any kind of comeback. Tatanka drops a trio of elbows and plays to the crowd, but only gets some pity boos. Luger counters a slam with a small package and Tatanka is gone at 23:15.

-Million Dollar team up 3-2: Bundy in immediately and hits the Avalanche Splash on Luger for the win at 23:22. Vince: “A moral victory for Lex Luger.” Poor Lex, those moral victories are why he was always seen as a choker.

Winners: The Million Dollar Team: King Kong Bundy and Bam Bam Bigelow via pin at 23:15
-Started fun and they just kind of dragged on by the end. Downer ending too which kind of sucks for the crowd after just watching the ending to the last match. **1/4

-Luger gets attacked after the match until his team sprints down to save.

-Backlund cuts his first promo as our New Champion backstage. Usually they save this for RAW, but for some reason they needed to rush through this. Wonder why? Oh, yeah! Backlund says he feels like a God.

Casket Match: Yokozuna (w/ Mr. Fuji and Jim Cornette) vs. The Undertaker (w/ Paul Bearer)

-Chuck Norris is the special enforcer. His job to stop what happened at The Rumble from happening here. Chuck gets a big reaction and enough pyro to make Cody proud. Also, Rest in Peace to Mr. Norris! Taker’s entrance clocks in at a brisk 4:45 or so. Taker points to Yoko and then to the casket, which causes Yoko to fall on his ass in fear. Funny! Yoko reverses a whip and gets a splash but Taker just walks out and stares him down. Yoko gets tossed near the casket and throws on the brakes. He gets knocked onto the casket and freaks out when he realizes. Yoko pulls Taker to the floor. Take with a thrust to the throat and rams Yoko’s head off the steps. Yoko calmly stalks Yoko around the ring and then back into the ring. Old School connects, but Yoko is still on his feet. He catches Taker charging in with a Samoan Drop. Zombie sit-up so Yoko slugs him down. Another Zombie sit-up. Yoko knocks him down again and goes to roll Taker into the casket but stops that noise. They battle on the apron and Yoko gets snapped off the top rope and takes another comical bump. Taker misses an elbow, and here’s another Zombie sit-up. Urinage from Yoko followed by a leg drop. His offense just sounds and looks impressive. The crowd freaks out as Taker is rolled into the casket, but he blocks the lid from being closed. Taker fights from the casket and we end up with both men in the casket. That gets the crowd into the match! They trade blows as each tries to leave the casket, but can’t at this point. Fuji pulls Taker’s hair to get his attention, and that lets Yoko escape. Cornette takes a shot to the jaw and does a crooked eye sell. Yoko had time to rest and gets a slam. Yoko knocks Taker off the apron and into the railing. They battle on the floor and Taker gets his head rammed off the steps. Back in the ring, Yoko chokes Taker on the ropes in front of Paul and the new urn. Whip to the corner, but Taker explodes out with a clothesline. He throws Yoko down by the back of his head as he set too early for a backdrop. Taker off the top with a clothesline to get the crowd back into the match a bit. We kill over a minute as Taker starts rolling Yoko across the mat towards the casket. Here’s King Kong Bundy to test Chuck Norris. Buck Bundy, Bud Bundy, don’t matter! That’s CHUCK NORRIS OUT THERE. The match has nothing happening but the crowd is alive as they want to see Chuck beat up Bundy or Bigelow, who just came out. IRS hits from the opposite side and works over Taker in the corner before applying a sleeper. Yoko hasn’t gotten off the mat for nearly four minutes at this point. Taker gets dumped into the casket as IRS leaves back through the crowd. Yoko up to his feet, but sells it by falling on his ass. He finally gets to the casket and goes to close the lid, but Taker is up and gets a goozle. We cut to Jarrett coming down and Chuck Norris delivers a thrust kick and JJ makes sure to sell by doing a back roll. That got the biggest pop of the match. Taker with a clothesline back in the ring and a DDT. Big Boot sends Yoko through the ropes and into the casket. Taker breaks The Japanese Flag over his knee and throws that into the casket before closing the lid for the win at 15:26. Hey, Jerk, Japan gave me Nintendo and specifically Legend of Zelda.

Winner: The Undertaker via casket closure at 15:26
-It was boring after a solid start, but fine overall. They had to run this back so Taker could get revenge for The Rumble and Chuck Norris adds an extra star by himself. **1/2

-Thanks for reading!

5.0
The final score: review Not So Good
The 411
How much you enjoy Bret/Backlund will likely determine how much you like this show. Taker got his revenge and having a happy moment close over Bret losing makes sense. The undercard was okay and the comedy match is one that some people will hate and some will love and I don't think either side is wrong. Overall, just a meh show, but some memorable moments and it has history as we had a Title change and Diesel breaking off from Shawn. Wonder if those two facts will cross each other?
