MJF exacted revenge on Brody King for his embarrassing defeat on last week’s Dynamite, as The Salt of the Earth retained the AEW World Championship at Grand Slam: Australia.

The back-and-forth battle saw MJF repeatedly target Brody’s ankle. However, the latter kept on fighting back. After several unsuccessful attempts, he finally hit the Cannonball on the champion in the corner. However, MJF managed to kick out.

The fight spiraled outside on more than one occasion. At one point, both men were knocked out on the floor after MJF delivered a reverse-hanging DDT, which was followed by King sending the Long Island native crashing into the barricade courtesy of a Death Valley Driver. As the referee started to count them out, King dragged MJF back into the ring.

The closing moments of the match saw King attempt a hanging choke while sitting on a turnbuckle. However, MJF broke it as he went after the knee. Friedman then slammed King into the apron before pulling back in the ring and nailing the Heat Seeker for the win.

After the match, the number-one contender to his title, Hangman Page, came to the ring and signed the contract for the World Championship match at Revolution. The two proceeded to exchange verbal jabs before MJF raised his title. Hangman initially tried to leave the ring, but he then turned back to scare MJF into thinking that he was about to take him out. The champion went down on the floor as the show went off the air.
