More Details On Andrade el Idolo Joining AEW After Recent WWE Exit

As previously reported, Andrade el Idolo has once again signed with AEW and appeared on last night’s episode of Dynamite, attacking Kenny Omega. PWInsider has more details on Andrade signing with AEW and how it happened so soon after his exit from WWE last month.
Typically, a talent released from WWE is under a 90-day non-compete clause. As news broke of Andrade’s release in mid-September, that would have meant the clause would be up in December. However, the simple answer is that Andrade had no non-compete clause on his contact.
Andrade was released due to multiple violations of the WWE Wellness policy over the past year. WWE then made the decision to fire him completely, with no clause, which means he was a free agent as soon as he was let go. They made the call to let him go instead of paying him another three months to keep him from going elsewhere. This would also mean that WWE is no longer announcing when main roster talents violate the Wellness policy, something that had been phased out in the past few years.
Andrade had previously been announced for independent events in Mexico and the US before signing with AEW.
