April 18, 2014 | Posted by
Fox News reports that a Greek document has been translated and reveals that a wrestling match in the year 267 AD was fixed.
The contract involved two teenagers who had the final match in a series of games in Egypt. The contract had the father of one of the teenagers pay a bribe to the gaurantors (trainers) of the other wrestler. The loser would fall three times and yield to get “three thousand eight hundred drachmas of silver of old coinage.”
