NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 Updated Match Card and Lineup

NJPW is lining up one of its most emotionally loaded events in years with Wrestle Kingdom 2026. The January 4 showcase at the Tokyo Dome is already taking shape as a blend of legacy, spectacle, and long-term storytelling. It will stream live on NJPW World.

At the top of the card sits a generational farewell. Hiroshi Tanahashi will wrestle his retirement match against Kazuchika Okada. The bout pairs the ace who carried New Japan Pro-Wrestling through its modern boom with the rival who helped define it. For many fans, it feels like a final chapter rather than just a main event.

Championship intrigue runs deep across the card. IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Konosuke Takeshita faces IWGP Global Champion Yota Tsuji in a rare champion-versus-champion clash. Elsewhere, NEVER Openweight Champion EVIL defends his title against Olympic judoka Aaron Wolf in a highly anticipated singles debut. The junior heavyweight scene adds urgency with a four-way match featuring SHO, El Desperado, Taiji Ishimori, and Kosei Fujita to determine the next challenger.

Stable warfare also takes center stage. David Finlay joins forces with Shingo Takagi, Gabe Kidd, Drilla Moloney, and Hiromu Takahashi against The United Empire in a multi-man collision. The women’s division highlights cross-brand prestige as IWGP Women’s Champion Syuri meets NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Saya Kamitani.

Chaos defines the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Tornado Ranbo. Multiple teams enter with eliminations coming by pinfall, submission, or top-rope toss. The kickoff match features NJPW World TV Champion El Phantasmo against Chris Brookes.

The momentum continues on January 5 at New Year’s Dash. IWGP Tag Team Champions The Knock Out Brothers defend against World Tag League winners Zack Sabre Jr. and Ryohei Oiwa. Together, both nights position Wrestle Kingdom as NJPW’s launching point for 2026.
