Note on AAA Wish List For Talent at Triplemania Regia, Scheduling The Event So Close to AEW Grand Slam Mexico

As previously reported, this year’s AAA Triplemania Regia will happen on June 15 at Arena Monterrey in Monterry, Mexico. In the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about the possible plans for the event, as well as a wish list of talent AAA wants for the show.

According to Meltzer, AAA recently increased the prices for the show from past events, leading some fans to believe that WWE wrestlers will be there. As noted, WWE recently acquired the Mexican promotion. AAA also wants WWE stars like Penta, Rey Fenix, Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio and others to appear at the show. Whether or not that actually happens remains to be seen. At this time, it’s not official that there will be WWE talent on the show.

Meltzer also spoke about the show’s date of June 15, three days before AEW’s Grand Slam Mexico with CMLL on June 18. He said that Monterrey and Mexico City are very far away from each other and he doesn’t think WWE’s event will hurt ticket sales for the Arena Mexico show. He does believe that WWE is trying to make sure that any mainstream coverage from that week goes to them and not AEW. However, he still said that CMLL is on a good run right now and that will likely help sales for the AEW Dynamite episode.
