Backstage Note On John Cena’s Chances at WWE Hall of Fame Induction This Year

John Cena is officially retired, but don’t expect him to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame right away, according to a new report. As you all surely know, Cena had the last match of his career in December when he lost to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The match capped off a 26-year career during which Cena was the face of WWE for a lengthy period.

Cena’s retirement has led to some fans speculating that his retirement will be capped off with a WWE Hall of Fame induction at WrestleMania 42. However, WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reports that this is not the plan. According to the outlet, sources in WWE note that Cena is not expected to be part of this year’s Hall of Fame class.

Stephanie McMahon was announced as the first member of the 2026 Hall of Fame class at WrestlePalooza in September. The report notes that most in the company expect her to be the headliner for this year’s Hall of Fame.

As most would expect, the company will continue the “Immortal Moments” category that kicked off last year by inducting a new one this year. Last year saw Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13 as the first-ever Immortal Moment inducted into the Hall.

The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will take place over WrestleMania 42 weekend.
