AEW recently kicked off its 2025 edition of the Continental Classic Tournament. On today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided some insight on how Tony Khan is booking and laying out the tournament matchups, explaining why no tournament bouts have been announced for this week’s AEW programming due to waiting to see who is healthy and ready to go.

During today’s show, Bryan Alvarez pointed out that no Continental Classic matches have been announced for tomorrow’s Winter Is Coming edition of AEW Dynamite, which Alvarez considered “very weird.” According to Meltzer, the reason no new tournament bouts have been revealed for this week’s Dynamite or Collision is that Tony Khan is waiting to see who is healthy and uninjured.

Meltzer explained, “The reason they don’t announce any matches more than a couple of days in advance is because he [Tony Khan] has no set days for these matches.” He continued, “He’s got all the matchups that have to happen, but there’s no set days for them.”

Meltzer added on the tournament matchups, “They’re gonna happen when they’re ready to have the best matches that they can have. When they’re hurt, they’ll just move them to another day, so that’s the deal.”

As previously noted, Darby Allin was already forced to withdraw from the tournament and was replaced by Jack Perry due to injury.
