Odyssey Jones On His AJPW Experience So Far, Says They’re ‘Working Out’ Contract Situation

Odyssey Jones is one half of the AJPW World Tag Team Champions, and he says he’s in the process of getting his contract situated. Jones has been working dates for the Japanese company since August and won the AJPW Tag Team Championships with XYON (the former Xyon Quinn) from Hideki Suzuki and Kengo Mashimo in last September. He was recently asked about his contract situation in an interview with Monthly Puroresu. You can see highlights from the discussion about his contract and more below:

On his contract status: “I hope to remain in the company for years to come. We are working out some things and getting it situated. I hope that AJPW and I can come to terms to a long-term agreement.”

On wrestling in Japan and which Japanese stars have inspired him: “Wrestling was always a dream of mine. I wanted to compete out here and truly see the extent of my abilities and talents. I watched legends like Misawa and Kobashi, as well as stints here from Stan Hansen. Hansen is someone I tried to emulate with his aggressiveness and intensity.”

On the main difference between AJPW and WWE: “Coming from WWE to Japan the main difference I felt is crowd reaction and timing. The crowd here is more observant and enjoys watching which is nice to experience and for timing we have live shows with cameras but in the WWE with it all being television, it’s way stricter with time and where we work in and around the ring.”

On why he and XYON make a dangerous team: “In my opinion, I believe that Xyon and I make such a good team because we have a unique combination of size and explosiveness for both of us. That with our experience training and out of the box thinking, we can wreak HAVOC everywhere.”
