UPDATED: Promoter Claims Jeff Jarrett Passed Out From Drinking in Locker Room, Video of Him Wrestling Anyway — Jarrett Responds
UPDATED: ProWrestlingSheet got Jeff Jarrett to comment on these reports. Jarrett denied to them that he passed out in the locker room and called the promoter an “amateur.”
ORIGINAL: It was reported yesterday that Jeff Jarrett had been scheduled to work for Canadian promotion RCW over the weekend in Edmonton and Calgary. He appeared on the Calgary show on Friday night and was supposed to work the RCW show on Saturday night as well but there was said to be an issue with him at the Friday show, which resulted in promoter Steven Ewaschuki apologizing to fans and announcing that Jarrett would no longer work the Saturday show. Jarrett allegedly passed out from drinking in a locker room at the Friday show, and then insisted on wrestling. They provided the following video…
The story goes further, as Pro Wrestling Sheet says that Jarrett allegedly said he had trouble at the border and an agent allowed him into Canada under the condition that he’d be back at the airport by 6AM the next morning to handle everything. Promoter Steven Ewaschuki claims Jeff Jarrett continued to drink and passed out in the locker room during the show. When intermission began, he had to be woken up for pictures. Jarrett then got ready for his match, despite the suspicion that he was still drinking, and tried to work a 20-minute match.
Things got worse before the match Double J’s music hit for his entrance but the wrestler didn’t come out. His opponent then got on the microphone and said Jeff was upstairs getting drunk. Jeff finally arrived and they stalled for over 10-minutes before the match started. Once the show was over, Ewaschuki paid Jarrett and expressed his unhappiness over the situation. Jarrett said he’d update them on the border situation, but never did. They found out the following day when Jarrett never arrived in Edmonton for his next booking with them.
This follows Jarrett talking a leave of absence from Impact Wrestling, prior to his firing. Ed Nordholm made the decision today for Jarrett to take time away from the company, due to unhappiness from Nordholm about Jarrett’s “erratic behavior.”
