Raquel Rodriguez recently reflected on her babyface run on the WWE main roster and why she prefers her current character as part of the Judgment Day. Rodriguez was a babyface character before she turned heel and joined the group at WWE Bad Blood 2024. She’s bene a loyal member of the Raw stable since.
Rodriguez spoke with Michael Fairman at WrestleMania 42 Media Day and discussed her babyface run, and critiquing her own performances. You can see the highlights below:
On Critiquing Her Own Performances:
“I think all of those things [good and bad] go through your mind when you’re critiquing yourself. And I know a lot of people — like there’s moments too where I have matches and I’ll get back to the room, and I’m like, ‘Actually, I don’t want to watch it because I was not happy with how I performed. I was not happy with how I felt about it.’
“But because I was so happy with Elimination Chamber, and I was just excited and I saw all the feedback I was getting online, I was like, ‘Yes, let’s rewatch it. Let’s rewatch it a second time. Make it a third time when I get back home to Texas so I can watch it and see my family’s reactions.'”
On Her Babyface Run:
“It was an interesting time when they had me in that ‘badass supergirl’ era… I did like it. It was fun getting to be a good guy, being able to like, hug kids and interact with them in a nice way, and know that they look up to me that way. But there’s something about being this Raquel Rodriguez that feels like the most authentic version to myself. Even though I don’t think I’m like this… I’m not gonna like yell at you guys, you know? But I like to tease and I like to have fun with every situation.
“And so this version of Raquel Rodriguez, she is a badass and that’s me in real life. And I think like me being the jokester that I am and just being me has really given me a new light. And I just love her more, and I don’t want to go [good and bad] back to the cool supergirl that I was.”
