Roman Reigns Discusses the Rise of Jey Uso, Explains the Hard Part Is Staying at the Top of the Mountain

WWE Superstar Roman Reigns appeared on The Pat McAfee Show today and discussed the rise of his cousin, Jey Uso, to main event status. Below are some highlights (via Fightful):

Roman Reigns on the rise of Jey Uso: “I don’t know about handing down the mantel. I don’t know if anybody can handle that responsibility and obligation. Jey, I saw this from the beginning. Just like Sami. I’ve seen this beautiful opportunity within Jey a long time ago. We’re just now seeing that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow with him. There is so much more left to do with him. There are so many more accolades and opportunities for him to capitalize on.”

On staying on top being the hard part: “He got there, that’s one of the hard parts, but the hardest part is staying there and staying relevant. To stay at the tip top of the mountain and breathe at that altitude. To do it like I did. I wish he would listen to me a lot better. I wish his brother would shut up and listen to me as well. It would make life a lot easier. At the end of the day, I have proof of concept. I’m the one who has mapped this thing out. I’m the only one who understands who to navigate these waters and I wish they would listen to me.”

Roman Reigns recently returned on WWE Raw, helping The Usos defeat The Vision. The former WWE Champion will now have to face Bronson Reed in a Street Fight later this weekend at WWE Crown Jewel Perth on Saturday, October 11. The premium live event will take place at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia. It will air live on the ESPN App in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally.
