Scott Steiner On Transitioning From WCW to WWE & Potential Feuds With Steve Austin & The Rock

Scott Steiner returned to WWE amid much fanfare at Survivor Series 2002 after being a part of the opposing side (WCW) during the Monday Night Wars. However, his stint didn’t go as planned, as an underwhelming World Title program with Triple H in 2003 led to Big Poppa Pump being relegated to the midcard before being released a year later.
In a recent conversation with Going Ringside, Steiner talked about his experience transitioning from WCW to WWE. He said:
“I mean, it was all right. I wouldn’t say it was, you know; I’d rather have been at WCW. I wish it wouldn’t have folded. Yeah, well, then it’s a monopoly then. It’s only one game in town. So it was good for them. Well, actually, it wasn’t good for them because they lost the ratings, too, you know? Because when the ratings wars were going on, it was great. You know, we were getting, like, an eight-share, seven-share going against each other, and then when that got taken away, their show went down, too, also.”
Steiner was also asked about potentially feuding with Stone Cold Steve Austin in WWE after initially working together in WCW. The veteran said that he would have loved to work with the top players at the time.
“That would have been great. I would have loved him, wrestling The Rock; you know, those guys were at the top of the game.”
However, when asked about potentially working with The Rock, Scott Steiner jokingly said that it would have been a “disaster.”
“Oh, man. A disaster. I would have had to take my name to Big Bad Booty Daddy or Big Daddy Disaster.”
