Tatum Paxley has her first NXT Women’s Title defense against Jacy Jayne at NXT Gold Rush, and she likes that fans are anxious for her. Paxley captured the title at NXT Halloween Havoc and will defend it against Jayne tonight at week one of Gold Rush.
To promote the match, Paxley appeared on The Nikki And Brie Show. She talked about how it’s interesting to see fans get nervous for her. She also said that if she could steal any move, it would be Jayne’s finisher. You can see highlights below:
On the Fan Reaction To Her As Champion:
“It’s technically going to be really, my first title defense. And kind of going back to what I said earlier, something that I think is interesting about me being a champion is that there’s this anxiety that’s attached to it that I think is really cool. And I don’t even really mean like, ‘Oh, I’m anxious.’ It’s the audience that’s anxious for me. Because like I said earlier, normally your champion is like, ‘She’s got it. I’m not even worried about it.’
“You know, a couple weeks ago when I was supposed to have my first title defense against Lola Vice, you just felt this this shift in the room. It was, ‘Oh god, I hope she can do this.’ It’s like cheering me on, but you also don’t know what Tatum you’re gonna get. Is she on top of her game right now? Is she not? Is she [a] loose screw today or is she perfect, ready to go?”
On Her Match With Jayne:
“Now, me and Lola didn’t get to finish that match. So me and Jacy Jayne tonight at Madison Square Garden is technically going to be my first official title defense. So, it’s just — I don’t know. There’s so much fun and interesting emotions that come down to it. And I just cannot wait.”
On Which Move She Wants To Steal:
“Oh man. What would I wanna steal? …You know, I’m gonna — this is one of the first things that comes to mind. Because I got to do it in my title match against Jacy. Her finish is so smooth and so incredible. It’s her Rolling Encore, just a rolling forearm. And it is deadly.
“And I love it because you can just pop up and do it to anybody out of nowhere. And she uses so much force and she makes it so uniquely hers. I tried to do it against her, and I couldn’t put her down, But if she does it to me, like I’m out. So it’s such a perfect, simple move and she does it so well and so deadly. So right now, I’ll say the Rolling Encore.”
