Ted DiBiase Reflects On His Time in Mid-South Wrestling

On the latest episode of Everybody’s Got a Pod, WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase talked about his career in the Mid-South territory under promoter Bill Watts. DiBiase was with Mid-South from 1974 through 1979, then again in the 1980s before he went to WWF. You can check out some highlights below:

Ted DiBiase on working multiple matches a night:

“That was a Bill Watts production. And it could be because I had another match. They would do three shows in one night.

On whether that was hard to do:

“Not TV matches. TV matches are not ever very, very long. Just whatever you got to do — you got to do what you got to do.”

On Bill Watts giving him the chance to develop:

“Yeah, it was good. Bill was, in my opinion, one of the best minds ever in wrestling. And the fact that I got to start my career working for him? I didn’t realize how good I had it. Because even though I was on the opening match every night, I mean, that’s where you start… All the talent that Bill brought into that territory, I got exposed to. So I got exposed to — not just once in a while, almost every night I’m getting exposure with guys that can go.”
