TNA House Show Results 08.02.08 – Laredo, TX

August 3, 2008 | Posted by Ashish Pabari

Thanks to 411 reader Megadeth.Raven for sending in this report.

Crowd was roughly 1000 people, according to the papers.

Show started around 8pm, Borash kept pumping the crowd up with a “loudest person goes backstage” contest, which was a cool way of keeping interest all night long

Kaz / Black Machismo vs Petey Williams / Sonjay Dutt vs Ultimo Guerrero / Rey Bucanero

Needless to say the mexicans were the most over with our crowd, but pretty much everyone had some good heat, probably cause of bieng the first match. A dang good match, fast pace all over with some great moves displayed by everyone in action. Kaz and Machismo were eliminated first when Petey hit the Canadian Destroyer on Kaz. 2nd part was a lot longer, and the mexicans looked really good. Ultimo Guerrero and Bucanero took the win when Bucanero hit a twisting senton on Sonjay while he was on Guerrero’s knees. Great match

James Storm vs Shark Boy

Storm came out to rile up the crowd by singing Tenessee virtues, untill Stone Cold Shark Boy came out. Match was very short and seemed like Sharky hurt himself when he slipped on a top rope dropkick and came down heavy on his knee. From here they seemingly rushed the finish, as it was beer bottle, superkick, done. Sharky still gutted enough to do a Stunner on Storm, but did seem injured, hopefully he’s ok

Knockouts Title Match: Awesome Kong vs Jacqueline vs Taylor Wilde (C)

Nice match that pretty much consited of Kong MURDERING both chicks. Wilde didnt look bad at all in the ring, first time ive seen her. Pretty cute too. Kong is just an awesome (no pun intended) sight to behold. Finish came when Taylor rolled up Kong while she was powerbombing Jacky

Tag team Title match: Team 3d vs LAX (with Hector Guerrero)

Bubbah of course went on a old school, less profanity laced tirade against mexicans, very ECW like, which prompted Hector to stand up for our honor. The man looks so much like Eddy Guerrero its just scary. Nice match, and you have to give props to Bubbah, as he played an awesome heel and kept doing all sorts of crazy interactions, like screaming “Maricon!!!” ( faggott) while taking a backdrop, that was just hilarious. In the end, LAX took the win when Hernandez gave Devon the Border Toss and Homicide followed with a splash

They taped a segment for the daily internet show, the crowd really liked all that stuff

Samoa Joe vs Abyss

Joe came out looking for Booker, but Booker was nowhere around, so he issued an open challenge. Out came Abyss. Hard hitting powerhouse match, and you really need to see Joe live to see how much of a fricking strong STRIKER the man is. Damn. Joe wins when he avoids a chairshot and did a Northern Lights on the chair. Joe was really over with the crowd

Kurt Angle vs AJ Styles

This one really came as a surprise, considering i had read Angle was injured. Not surprisingly, they had a grounded match, but it was a pretty good back and forth one, including the spot of the night, when they went for the usual double crossbody spot, but Angle did a flying elbow on AJ, IN MID AIR, and Aj spun wildly off that bump. That was one sickening thud off of that elbow. Aj picked up the win with the Styles Clash

After the match, Angle stayed in the ring and the crowd erupted in a “Thank you, Kurt!” chant. Angle addressed the crowd and thanked us all, and affirmed he had made the right choice to move to TNA

When all was said and done, Borash said he couldnt pick anyone from the crowd, so he was bringing over backstage to us. Lethal, Kaz, Homicide and Hernandez stayed ringside, signing autographs, taking pics, and overall being real cool with the people. Hernandez was probably the friendliest guy, as you couldnt knock the smile out of him in all night. Angle stayed in the ring and for a fee, you could take a picture with him in the ring. There was a LOT of people who went up for it, an Angle was actually a total class act, and treated every single one awesomely. There were a lot of people coming off happy, overall, it was a really good show, coulda done with more Knockouts, but hey, what counts is sending the crowd home happy, and a lot of them went home very happy
