Tony Khan views the hatred between Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) and Mark Briscoe as a “generational” hatred. During a recent interview with the Battleground Podcast, Khan discussed how MJF and Briscoe’s feud, along with Briscoe attending MJF’s recent wedding to Alicia Atout. Khan noted that the enemies of MJF, such as Briscoe, who attended the wedding, didn’t cause any trouble out of respect for Alicia Atout. Below are some highlights (via WrestlingInc.com):
Tony Khan on how MJF skipped his own honeymoon to cost Mark Briscoe his match at AEW Collision: “The man whose wedding I had attended just hours earlier, he came down to Philadelphia. He skipped his own honeymoon to cost Mark Briscoe. That is truly generational hating from MJF, and he absolutely fits that billing, and there is no love lost between Mark Briscoe and MJF. That is a real rivalry that is a very personal situation.”
On the wrestlers putting their differences aside at the wedding out of respect for Alicia Atout: “There were some wrestlers that were able to put their differences aside out of respect for Max’s wife, Alicia [Atout]. Mark Briscoe, I think he wisely took the high road and said, ‘Okay, well, Alicia is great, but I don’t want to be in a room with Max,’ and at the end, Max really came out there and stabbed Briscoe in the back.”
After MJF showed up on Collision to cost Briscoe his match, Atout notably commented on social media, “Nah, that’s cool. I didn’t want to go on a honeymoon with my new husband anyway. @The_MJF”
