DDP welcomes us and talks about the n W o black and while is too sweet, the red and black is 4-life…But there is the black and blue, DDP and he is for real.
We get a video package of DDP hitting all of his trademark stuff.
-The interview is being done in the Power Plant. He spent tons of time here, first to arrive and last to leave. Many said he would never make it, but he was determined.
-His first WCW gig was as an announcer, but that wasn’t enough.
-JJ Dillon says DDP had a drive to be a success.
-Back to DDP who talks about Randy Savage. We see an interview from Uncensored. He says Savage exposed that he and Kim were really married. She has been on the ride with him, and seen him battle for everything he has.
-Spring Stampede was one day after his birthday, and it was the day people started to believe in him. So kayfabed here, “Even Savage didn’t think I could win, so I snapped and took it to him brother.”
-We now get highlights of the Spring Stampede 1997 match with Savage. EVIL REF NICK PATRICK with the mullet of DOOM!
-Savage says he and everyone underestimated him.
-DDP explains that the Diamond Cutter is the most dangerous move on the planet.
-That’s it.
-They battled everywhere that night.
-When he got out of the ring, he got to the back and remembered nothing.
-We see DDP playing La Parka and getting a huge pop when he took off the match.
-Highlights are shown.
-He puts Luger over as a great athlete and a guy with a hell of a physique.
-They have a lot of respect for each other.
-Fall Brawl 1997, Hall and Savage vs. Luger and DDP highlights are shown. Larry Z gets involved and he counts the pin.
-The Savage vs. DDP feud was so emotional and it was all too real.
-Halloween Havoc 1997 highlights are shown. It was last man standing.
-Elizabeth nails the ref with a glass plate. Kim snapped and attacked Elizabeth.
-We get a fake Sting appearance!
-DDP says he didn’t want to lose, but Hogan was dressed as Sting and he got screwed
-He was beat down, but the next night went toe-to-toe with Hogan anyway.
-From Nitro in 1997 highlights of the match are shown.
-Fake Sting again! Hogan beats down DDP with the training belt.
-He won by DQ, and he is far from done with Hogan.
-He admired Hennig, but he studied him well and knew he had his number.
-Highlights of their Starrcade 1997 match are shown. DDP won the US Title that night.
-He won WCW’s 1997 Wrestler of the Year.
-Highlights of DDP vs. Benoit are shown. A really good match I remember.
-He puts over Benoit. He called him out because he respected Benoit and wanted to raise his game. DDP won that match.
-Benoit puts him over and calls DDP a winner.
-Triple Jeopardy, Benoit vs. DDP vs. Raven.
-We get another highlight package. This was also a damn fine match. Everything clicked for these guys. Raven eats a SICK Diamond Cutter through a table.
-DDP says the Flock was a challenge. They got him down, and he got banged.
-Highlights of the match run. Brutal match as they destroy the set and use about everything you can imagine. Raven wins the US Title.
-Kim says it was hard to watch. The sport is so dangerous and she gets scared watching him.
-The Bowery Death match with Raven. A mini-HIAC with weapons inside. The DDP/Raven feud was a fun one as memory serves and going be seeing this stuff again.
-DDP fights off the Flock to win the match.
-Feeling the bang is a state of mind derived from the people.
-After he was done with the Flock and Raven, he went back after Hogan.
-He discussed how he met Karl Malone. They discussed doing a project together, and when Malone saw what Rodman did he had to get involved.
-He talks about the media coverage that He, Hogan, Malone and Rodman got.
-We see highlights of the Bash at the Beach Match are shown. DDP lost when the Disciple cost him the match.
-Heenan puts over DDP. He says people relate to him.
-From Nitro 1998. Highlights are shown including the pre-match beat down of DDP. Hart dissects him.
-Bret Hart says you should never have excuses, and DDP lost whether he likes it or not.
-The next week DDP called out Hogan for taking him out last week.
-DDP was about to win when the n W o attacks.
-Bishoff brought his wife into things while she was doing the Nitro Girls gig.
-We see Bishoff doing his Tonight Show parody.
-DDP attacks and destroys the set and Bishoff.
-We see the build for Hogan and Bishoff vs. DDP and Jay Leno at Sturgis 1998.
-DDP was nervous for Leno.
-Highlights are shown. Kevin Eubanks should have been his partner, he was YOKED!
-Hogan, Bishoff and the Disciple beat them down after the match, but Goldberg makes the save.
-Team War Games.
-The rules changed in 1998 with the winner getting a title shot as it was technically every man for himself.
-It was all about getting his shot at the gold, which he got.
The 411: What I hated about the WCW Best of Series is that there were never full matches. This would be a must own if the Benoit and Raven/Benoit matches were in full. Unfortunately it is just a kayfabe-o-rama to put over Page. Good for business, but you really wanted more. |
