Paul “Triple H” Levesque addressed fan criticism of WWE’s creative direction ahead of WrestleMania 42. Appearing on ESPN’s First Take, he commented on recent storyline developments involving Pat McAfee.

Triple H discussed the ongoing angle tied to Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes facing off for the Undisputed WWE Championship, where McAfee has been positioned within the storyline. The segment has generated mixed responses, with some viewers questioning McAfee being inserted into the WrestleMania match.

“There’s something on the horizon for this, for sure. You know, when you run your mouth as much as Pat does, eventually somebody is going to try to shut it. But, you know, really, as a WWE fan, what I’m really looking forward to is that moment, mentor, student, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, locking up over that WWE championship. You know, it’s just a moment that transcends a couple of generations to me, and that’s what’s really cool about it.”

During the interview, he noted that WrestleMania week typically brings increased scrutiny and discussion. According to him, the level of discussion surrounding the storyline reflects fan engagement rather than a negative outcome.

“It’s always pressure, but the thing is, talk is good, right? People are talking, and that is a good thing. Pat, love him or hate him, Pat makes people talk, right? And I think that’s what’s important here is people are talking. This is going to be an amazing show. This will be incredible, and it will deliver on all levels.”

He did not provide additional details on future developments within the storyline. WrestleMania 42 is scheduled as a two-night event, with Orton vs. Rhodes positioned among the featured matches. The build continues across television and media appearances leading into the show.
