UPDATE: A new report has some new details on the local IATSE union protesting AEW Dynamite at the 2300 Arena tonight. PWInsider reports that the issue that IATSE Local 8 is protesting is not around AEW, but rather the venue itself which is traditionally a non-union building.

The report notes that according to AEW sources, the company would be going through the venue itself to use the local labor and would pay the wages involved. The appearance seems to be that the union is using the fact that AEW is running the venue, thus putting the 2300 Arena on a brighter stage by virtue of its nationwide and international broadcasts, to put pressure on the 2300 Arena into using union labor.

ORIGINAL: The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees has announced that IATSE Local 8 members will protest tonight’s AEW Dynamite. IATSE claims that AEW fails to meet area standards for wages and benefits. The graphic includes the entire schedule for AEW’s residency at the 2300 Arena, which suggests the protests could continue past tonight.

The IATSE said in a statement: “This week, IATSE Local 8 members are out in force to inform the public that All Elite Wrestling (AEW) events in Philadelphia are failing to meet area standards by paying substandard wages and benefits.

When employers undercut these standards it threatens wages, benefits, and job opportunities for all entertainment workers in the community.

We stand in solidarity with our Local 8 kin as they hold employers accountable and fight to protect the fair standards that entertainment workers deserve!
