Backstage Update On AJ Lee’s Immediate WWE Future

AJ Lee lost the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 42, and a new report suggests that she’s going to be away for a bit following the loss. As noted, Lee dropped the Women’s Intercontinental Championship to Becky Lynch on the firts night of WrestleMania 42. She has not appeared since and shared a post to social media this week in which she praised a number of the talent she’s worked with since her return to the company, including Lynch.

According to WrestleVotes Radio On Fightful Select, a source in WWE has indicated that their creative plans for Lee is “effectively done” for the time being. There is hope that she will do more programs and matches going forward, including appearances for major events like SummerSlam.

Lee signed a deal to return to the company back in September, marking her first appearances since she retired from the ring back in 2015. She spoke after her loss at WrestleMania 42 and noted, “I never got to say goodbye last time, and I felt bad about that. So this is not goodbye. But I’ll be back soon. I hope.”

Obviously, that means there is no word on when we might next expect AJ Lee to appear on WWE TV.
