There have been rumors of a match between The Rock and Roman Reigns for Wrestlemania 37, especially now that Reigns is playing a heel again. According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rock wants to come in to put Reigns over in front of a big crowd, but the same issue that’s prevented matches in the past could stop this from happening as well.

The Rock is a movie star with several projects in the works, including Black Adam. That means studios have to protect their investments and insurance policies may prevent him from wrestling. This goes all the way back to his second match with John Cena, where he tore his abdominal and abductor tendons from his pelvis and required surgery. That put the production of Hercules in question, but he eventually managed to work through it.

There have been ideas to bring him back to WWE over the years but they fell through for both insurance reasons and his hectic schedule. This included a singles match with Brock Lesnar and a match in which he’d team with Ronda Rousey against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. The second match did happen, but Kurt Angle replaced The Rock in the angle.

The Rock has been physical on WWE TV in the past, but there is a difference between giving one Rock Bottom and working a 20-30 minute match.
