Will Ospreay on Finding His Footing in NJPW After The Elite Left in 2019

– During a recent appearance on Talk Is Jericho, AEW star Will Ospreay discussed how he found his footing in NJPW after The Elite left the company to form AEW in early 2019. Ospreay said on the subject (via WrestlingInc.com), “I feel like I finally found my footing in 2019 when Kenny [Omega] left, and the [Young] Bucks left, and Cody [Rhodes] left, obviously to set up AEW, and then obviously myself and Jay [White] stepped in, I found my footing when I wrestled Shingo [Takagi] in the Super Juniors.”
Ospreay would eventually make the move up to heavyweight in New Japan, winning the New Japan Cup tournament in 2021. He would also go on to win the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship and the IWGP US Heavyweight Title. Will Ospreay recently signed with AEW, making his in-ring debut as part of the roster earlier this month at AEW Revolution, beating Konosuke Takeshita.
