Will Ospreay Reflects On Recovery From Neck Injury, Coming Back in ‘Record Time’
Will Ospreay recently weighed in at his return from neck injury and how he was able to come back in “a record’s time.” Ospreay came back at AEW Revolution, making his return after having been written out due to his injury at AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door last year. He is set to compete against Jon Moxley at tonight’s AEW Dynasty.
Ospreay was asked in an interview with Wrestling Brain about what it meant to come back to AEW PPV at tonight’s show. He spoke about how he was able to return from a neck injury that retired the likes of Adam Copeland and Bryan Danielson for significant periods of time and how raring he was to start preparing for his return once he could. You can see highlights below:
On Competing On an AEW PPV Again:
“I mean it for me it means so much, just because six months of just sitting there and not knowing what my wrestling career is going to look like on the other side of this injury. Like, 10 years ago this is the injury that medically disqualified you if you had this surgery like. It took out Cope, it took out Danielson. It’s only recently because how far medical science has come along like that I’m able to come back, and like I’ve come back in a record’s time now. I think I did it in like five months and three weeks — beat John Cena, just saying. [laughs]”
On His Recovery:
“Just to sit on my ass for six months, like I’m a very active and energetic person. And all I just did was just sit on my butt, eat a bunch of junk foods, and then the moment that I could start lifting again. Because it was like six weeks I couldn’t do anything. Like I wasn’t allowed to pick anything up. I’d forget, like my kid would be riding his bike and we need to put in the back of the car. And I’d just pick up the bike and put it in there and Al[ex Windsor] looks at me as if to be like, ‘What are you doing?’ [laughs]”
